Volta Travels specializes in socially-orientated journeys to Ghana. We distinguish ourselves from other travel organizations by offering you direct contact with some of Ghana's many social organizations, as well as with the locals themselves. Additionally, we distinguish ourselves through our inexpensive pricepoint.
Among the places we visit are women's organizations, schools, health institutions, ecotourism projects, cocoa plantations, orphanages, centers for homeless children and many others. We also offer great freedom in the choice of places and events to visit. We can bring you in direct contact with traditional -- chiefs and elders -- and modern leaders of villages and districts. We can acquaint you with a collaborative effort that brings Muslims and Christians side by side. Moreover, as a part of our program, we visit traditional workshops for coffins, beads and sandals. Naturally we also visit places of historical interest, such as slave forts, beaches and nature reserves.
You decide how best to experience your journey.
Volta Travels is an initiative of Koen Olde Monnikhof and Ria van der Ploeg. We know Ghana well, having lived and worked there for many years as a part of a developmental organization. Koen also has a great deal of experience as a tour leader; it was during his time as such that he noticed most attention during trips to Ghana is given to visiting tourist sights.
Volta Travels strives instead to acquaint you with the modern developments of the Ghana of today.
We thank you for visiting our website and look forward to seeing you on one of our journeys!
